Naturals Salon firms up expansion plans
Set to enter US market; to strengthen presence in North India
After the launch of its first overseas operations in Dubai, Chennai-based hair and beauty salon chain Naturals has set the expansion plans in motion in the US.
It has identified a master franchise in the US where it will start six salons in San Francisco starting June next year.
CK Kumaravel, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder, Naturals Salon and Spa, said, “We are introducing ayurvedic massages and spa therapy as a part of the salon packages in order to differentiate ourselves from the market players overseas.”
Groom India Salon and Spa, the parent company of Naturals, has partnered with Coimbatore-based Arya Vaidya Pharmacy for ayurvedic products and skilling the manpower. This service will be extended to upcoming salons in Dubai. The company has plans to open 50 salons by end of 2016 in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
To strengthen its presence in North India, the company will open 10 salons in Pune, four of them on sports themes to attract teenagers. Kumaravel said the first of its kind sports salon aimed to attract the younger crowd will have amenities such as loud music and colourful background and will have grooming services that are edgy and funky.
“We are also looking at New Delhi and Punjab for our next operations,” he added. Currently the company has 505 salons in India and plans to expand 3000 by 2018.
In the pipeline
Naturals also have plans to introduce their own brand of cosmetics for their salons which would be sold at competitive prices. “Our aim is to bring quality brands for an affordable price. We are working on them and will be available in the market by mid 2016,” he added.
Salon and spa market account for about â‚¹8,000 crore, of which the organised sector accounts for â‚¹2,000 crore. Naturals salon has a market share of â‚¹350-400 crore and growing at the rate of 50-60 per cent whereas the beauty industry is growing at the rate of 30-35 per cent.
Keeping in line with current trends, the company has plans to launch an app, wherein the consumer can book a home visit for specific beauty treatments.
“We have spare capacity in the salon during weekdays and this gives us an opportunity to utilise them,” he said. The service will be launched in Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad by January 2016.
